this reminds me of the Epicurus quote:
“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?”
Epicurus strikes again!
Or it might be a false trichotomy. Look, I’m basically atheist, but also have little patience for anyone trying to understand what some theoretical vast intellect that can create worlds would have as reasons and motivations. Heck, same deal with people who try to say what aliens would and would not do in a first contact situation. None of us have the slightest clue what would go through the mind of a god or god like entity. It’s not even that hard to come up with scenarios that do make sense to our little brains.
